GCORR Book Study: My Body Is Not a Prayer Request

This 4-session book study is based on “My Body Is Not a Prayer Request” By Dr. Amy Kenny

My Body Is Not a Prayer Request by Dr. Amy Kenny is a bold, prophetic, and deeply personal call for the Church to reckon with its complicity in ableism.

Disability justice is a framework that moves beyond legal accessibility to systemic equity. Coined by disabled queer activists of color, it centers the lived experiences of disabled people who are also impacted by race, gender, class, and other forms of marginalization.

Disability is not a monolithic experience. Cultural background, race, ethnicity, gender, geography, socioeconomic status, and religious identity all shape how disability is experienced and understood.

Each session is made up of:

  • Reading Synopsis

  • Provocative Thought

  • Opening Prayer

  • Biblical Connection

  • Self-Reflection

  • Discussion Questions

  • Action Items

  • Closing Ritual

  • Closing Prayer

  • Deeper Dive Resources

Note: The book is not included with this book study. You will need to purchase the book separately.
