GCORR Book Study: The Book of Forgiving: The Fourfold Path for Healing Ourselves and Our World

This 5-session book study is based on “The Book of Forgiving” By Desmond Tutu and Mpho Tutu

The Book of Forgiving by Archbishop Desmond Tutu and his daughter Mpho Tutu provides a transformative and deeply compassionate approach to forgiveness. Drawing on their own personal experiences and their work in post-apartheid South Africa, the authors offer practical steps for healing and reconciliation.

In the book, they outline the Fourfold Path to Forgiveness— telling the story, naming the hurt, granting forgiveness, and renewing or releasing the relationship.

This book study is designed to guide participants through the concepts and practices introduced in The Book of Forgiving, with a focus on personal reflection, mutual support, and the development of a forgiving mindset. As we explore the powerful stories and teachings within, we will cultivate an environment of openness, trust, and nonjudgment, allowing each person to engage at their own pace and in their own way.

Each session is made up of:

  • Opening Prayer

  • Reading Synopsis

  • Centering Text

  • Self-Reflection Question

  • Discussion Area

  • Activity

  • Closing Prayer

  • Further Learning Opportunities

Note: The book is not included with this book study. You will need to purchase the book separately.
